There has been an increase in fraudulent / scam activity targeting individuals about benefit schemes. We would welcome support in raising public awareness about potential scams.
- Individuals will not be contacted by the UK Government asking for bank details
- Individuals are advised not to click on links provided in suspicious texts or emails.
If people get a text about the “Winter Fuel Payment” or the “Winter Fuel Allowance”, it is a scam as payments are automatic, people do not need to do anything.
